Waterborne Pathogen Ecology

Pathogens in aquatic systems are shaped by complex interactions between environmental conditions, microbial communities, and human activity. This research explores how waterborne pathogens (including Vibrio and other opportunistic bacteria) persist and respond to environmental change across freshwater and coastal marine systems, from streams to estuaries. By tracking microbial dynamics over time and space, we aim to better understand the ecological drivers of pathogen presence and inform public health protection.
